My name is Sarah Baker and I have been singing from a very young age. After singing in the school choir and performing in the school shows, I decided I wanted to continue learning about performing in my school’s 6th Form. I completed a BTEC National Diploma in Performing Arts at Distinction level. I then went on to perform semi-professionally for about 7 years doing cabaret shows, pantomimes and full scale musical productions at various venues around the UK.
Performing has now taken a back seat so I can spend more time teaching and spending time with my family.
I have completed up to and including Grade 8 Music Theatre singing exams through the London College of Music, all to distinction level and completed a Certificate in Contemporary Vocal Teaching through VIDLA (Vocalist International Distance Learning Academy) in August 2009. In 2012 I completed a Diploma in Contemporary Vocal Teaching through the same academy.
I have been privileged enough to be a judge for ‘Kent’s Talent’ final in Tonbridge over the past few years and hope to continue this relationship and help find new talent in Kent. For more information on the competition, please visit www.kentstalent.org.uk.
I have also worked with the national competition, Festival4Stars as a Vocal Specialist. (http://www.festival4stars.com/)
KentVocalAcademy was launched in March 2009 from my home studio in Medway, Kent. I am a passionate singer and teacher and thrive on helping students ‘find their voice’. I have taught a range of students from the nervous to the very confident and will happily help anyone who wants to improve. I believe I can help anyone improve their voice, although I do not promise to make anyone sound like Mariah Carey or Adele!
